Summary: In the 80s, one of the most dangerous and terrifying of serial killers made his mark in history...several times over actually. The horror of the dream demon Freddy Krueger is indescribable...so naturally, after Vorhees got his reboot last year, the clawed menace would get his the following year. It could have been better, but you work with what you got.

History: The story is mostly as you remember it. Freddy Krueger was a cruel child molester, this time posing as a groundskeeper for a preschool. Naturally, the adults were at wits end with him, and chased him into a building where he was immolated. But he had somehow managed to become a vengeful spirit intent on killing their children. Every last one of them. He infected their dreams as a powerful shapeshifting demon, and it would seem that he is unstoppable in his bloodlust.

Final Fate: After some time, Nancy confronts Freddy in the dream realm, and with some assistance, pulls the spirit into the real world to stab him with a knife and burn him twice over. However, Nacy's mom's head is later impaled with his sharp claws through a mirror, indicating that the nightmare is far from over...

Powers/Abilities: Freddy can do pretty much whatever he wants in the dream world. His favorite weapon is a clawed glove. He's also almost completely invulnerable.

Weakness: It is possible to hurt him by dragging him into the real world through stimulating drugs.

Scariness Factor: 4-As usual, Freddy is the unstoppable monster of the nightmare that loves to torture and maim young people for his own sick pleasure. The difference is that he isn't nearly as bombastic about it, and the effects don't always hold up. We dare argue that he isn't nearly as violent as his predecessor, but that's probably because he hasn't gotten so many sequels to show it.

Trivia: -Freddy was played by Jackie Earle Haley, a former child actor who later gained recognition for playing as Rorschach in 2009's adaptation of "Watchmen". Robert Englund did like his performance. Wes Craven on the other hand preferred not to bring this film up.

-Humorously, Freddy's revamped backstory as a groundskeeper brings to mind an episode of "The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror". Specifically, the "Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace" segment, in which groundskeeper Willie takes Freddy's place.
